ABOUT ALISON PRICE-ROM
Member SCBWI
I am an illustrator and writer with a background in fine art, literature and K-12 education. I currently work with refugee children who have come to the United States from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Haiti and Cuba in order to escape wars, natural disasters and poverty. This work has familiarized me with a variety of cultures and traditions from around the world. My international education work has taken me around the world to Armenia, Austria, Czech Republic, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and more. During my travels I love to collect local folk tales and folk art that inspire some of my illustrations. My illustrations are made primarily with watercolor, colored pencil and ink. In addition to illustrating my own stories, I am interested in providing illustrations for the work of other authors. I have studied art through continuing education courses at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League of New York. I am a member of C-Big and live in New Jersey, not far from New York: apricerom@verizon.net
